The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and AcademyHealth, a professional organization focused on health services research, announced a new collaboration.

Broadly, the collaboration aims to "strengthen public/private partnerships in digital health, and advance policy at all levels of government" to encourage and support healthcare improvement.

The organizations will first partner on Health Datapalooza 2019, AcademyHealth's 10th annual convention on health data and technology. They will work to expand the programming, audience and reach of the Health Datapalooza. Additionally, they will expand year-round digital health advancement activities and outreach for stakeholders, including policymakers.

"HIMSS is proud to join AcademyHealth in the Health Datapalooza and in working together to ensure the secure and meaningful transformation of data into new capabilities that deliver innovation in health transformation," said Hal Wolf, HIMSS President and CEO.

AcademyHealth recently extended the deadline for Health Datapalooza presentation pitches to Oct. 22.
