Jessica Kim Cohen -

HHS plans to open a Health Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center at initial operating capability in June, according to Federal News Radio.

Chris Wlaschin, chief information security officer for HHS, announced the new center on April 20 during the ACT-IAC Mobile Health Forum in Washington, D.C. The collaborative information analysis center is based off the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center.

HCCIC will raise awareness about safe mobile health practices among both healthcare organizations and consumers, according to Federal News Radio. The center will also coordinate with mHealth developers to secure patient data.
