HHS CIO Frank Baitman leaving post: 5 things to know

After nearly four years as CIO of HHS, Frank Baitman is stepping down, according to a Fedscoop report. 

Here are five things to know.

1. Mr. Baitman will be leaving his position effective Nov. 30.

2. During his time as HHS CIO, he led several initiatives including moving the agency's email to the cloud and launching a virtual desktop pilot, according to the report.

3. His previous roles include CIO of the Social Security Administration and entrepreneur-in-residence for the FDA.

4. Mr. Baitman did not give a specific insight into what he would do after leaving HHS.

5. "I have decided that it's time for me to move on from my role as HHS Chief Information Officer and to pursue new professional challenges. I have been thinking about how to approach this move, and concluded that it's best to devote myself to exploring opportunities full-time," he said in an email obtained by Fedscoop.
