Google’s 4 latest partnerships for cloud interoperability

Google Cloud formed new partnerships with four organizations in support of the tech giant's commitment to improving data interoperability in healthcare.

Google Cloud Healthcare and Life Sciences Vice President Gregory Moore, MD, PhD, outlined details of the new partnerships in a blog post on the company's website Feb. 11.

Google Cloud's four new partners, listed in alphabetical order:

1. Health Level 7. Representatives from Google will be joining the international interoperability nonprofit's standards community. This collaboration builds upon Google's existing relationship with the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources Foundation.

2. MITRE. By collaborating with Google Cloud, the nonprofit MITRE, which operates federally funded research and development centers, will provide developers access to SyntheticMass, a population-level, EHR-formatted dataset powered by Cloud Healthcare API and API-proxies management platform Apigee Edge.

3. Rock Health. Google will incorporate integration requirements from novel and fast-growing companies with help from Rock Health, a seed fund specializing in digital startups. This partnership will help Google gain knowledge on compliant product development and collaborate with digital health investors, industry executives and regulators, among others.

4. SMART Advisory Council. Google Cloud developers will work with the council, which designs applications for direct integration into EHRs, to improve SMART criteria and help maintain a tool set for application designers, engineers and users
