Google reportedly creating health, fitness assistant

Alyssa Rege -

Google is reportedly working on a health and fitness assistant to compete with the likes of Apple, Fitbit and Garmin, according to Wareable.

The assistant, reportedly called Google Coach and operating under the code name Project Wooden, will use data such as heart rate and step counts to create personalized fitness regimens and meal plans. Google Coach will also provide recommended workouts and alternatives if the user misses a session.

Using a user's location and food patterns, the assistant will also be able to monitor the wearer's nutrition to recommend healthy restaurants, as well as meals to cook at home with grocery shopping lists sent to their emails.

The feature will reportedly initially roll out on Wear OS devices, and will eventually be available on cellphones, Android TV and Google Home, according to the report.
