Google Cloud plans to unfreeze hiring

Google Cloud intends to restart the hiring process across the company by next month, CRN reported Sept. 26.

Google had begun slowing hiring in July amid the larger economic downturn in the tech industry.

Google Cloud was still trying to resume hiring in a few Google Cloud departments as of September, Brad Calder, vice president of Google Cloud Platform and technical infrastructure, said in an employee memo obtained by CRN.

"We plan to complete this process by the start of October," he wrote in the memo.

Google Cloud reported $6.3 billion in revenue in the second quarter of 2022, a 36 percent increase from a year earlier, but a larger operating loss: $858 million compared to $591 million, according to the story.
