Berlin, Germany-based Ada Health, developer of an artificial intelligence-driven app, raised $47 million (or €40 million) in a new funding round, according to TechCrunch.
The Ada app, launched late in 2016, offers users a chat interface, which helps people determine what their health symptoms could mean and also connects them with real physicians. The app works on the principal that AI can help a person gain access to pre-diagnosis before a physician takes over. Thus far, 1.5 million people have used the app.
"The future of healthcare lies in a much more patient-centric model where individuals have actionable insights at their fingertips, and doctors and artificial intelligence work together to support patients throughout their healthcare journey," said Daniel Nathrath, CEO and co-founder of Ada Health, according to the report.
The company plans to use the funds to fine-tune the app, hire more staff members and open a new U.S.-based office.
