Genomic data is now searchable on the Google cloud

Genomenon, an Ann Arbor, Mich.-based genomics startup, has partnered with Google to integrate its searchable genomic mutation data into the Google Cloud Platform, according to a news release.

Genomenon's Cited Variants Reference data is now available as a public dataset in Big Query, a machine learning and big data resource on Google Cloud. The CVR dataset comprises more than 4.1 million genomic variants referenced in medical literature, along with annotations listing mention volume for every variant.

All entries in the CVR also link to Genomenon's full Mastermind Genomic Search Engine, compiling every mention of each variant in the more than 30 million scientific papers published on PubMed and read by the Mastermind system.

According to the release, CVR data is especially useful for clinicians and researchers seeking to "prioritize and scale their genomic interpretation." Additionally, the massive number of genomic variants included in the CVR makes it a helpful tool for scientists exploring rare mutations, allowing them to search for variants with little or no previous documentation in medical literature.
