GE launched Drawbridge Health, a privately held healthcare technology company that is developing proprietary technology to collect blood samples.

The technology aims to enable blood drawing, collection and sample stabilization in a single device. It also aims to allow for room temperature shipping and easy processing.

Lee McCracken will serve as Drawbridge Health CEO. He is equipped with more than 25 years of experience in the biotech, pharmaceuticals and diagnostics industries. He previously served as CEO of Gensignia Life Sciences, a molecular diagnostics company.

"The current sample testing process is inconvenient and challenging for patients and medical providers, alike," said Mr. McCracken. "It requires clinical processing equipment, often a technician specifically trained to draw blood, plus a trip to the doctor's office or hospital. By combining world class GE technology and a talented founding team to address an important market need, Drawbridge Health is well positioned to transform diagnostic testing for healthcare stakeholders, testing laboratories, patients and consumers."
