Epic petitions SCOTUS on arbitration; DOJ investigates McKesson merger; DOD delays go-live of Cerner EHR — 8 health IT keynotes

Here are eight recent news updates on key health IT companies.

1. Epic Systems filed a petition asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review a lower court's decision ruling the health IT company could not mandate arbitration as a means to settle employee disputes nor have employees waive their right to act collectively.

2. A new service from Allscripts called Allscripts eRecruit seeks to support physicians' population health efforts by helping refer patients to clinical trials and reducing the time and costs of trials, bringing treatments to the market more quickly.

3. The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services implemented Cerner's population health management platform, HealtheIntent.

4. The Department of Justice appears to be looking into potential antitrust concerns regarding the proposed merger between McKesson and Change Healthcare.

5. In a move to support its associates' health and wellness, Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner opened an on-site health center in Bangalore, India, the company's fourth wellness associate center and first global location.

6. Copper Queen Community Hospital in Bisbee, Ariz., is preparing to go live on Cerner's EHR next week.

7. London-based King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust implemented the Allscripts Sunrise EHR.

8. The Department of Defense pushed back the deployment of its commercial EHR, called MHS GENESIS, by "a few months." Cerner, Leidos and Accenture are designing the EHR.
