Verona, Wis.-based Epic Systems has announced plans to expand its campus, adding five buildings totaling one-half million square feet of office space, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.

Epic is known for its themed campus extensions, recently finishing its Farm Campus. The IT giant is also still in the process of completing its fourth campus expansion called Wizards Academy, based on the aesthetic of historic university campuses, including Cambridge University and Oxford University, according to the report.

The tentative designs for the recently announced campus expansion include tributes to literary classics such as "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "The Wizard of Oz," according to the report.

"It's inspiration. It's creativity," said Bruce Richards, Epic's director of facilities and engineering, in the report. "Creativity is a big part of it. We want to make it interesting for the employees. The whole idea is that we're a software company so we try to create an atmosphere that is enjoyable to work in and keeps your creativity going."

Each of the five planned buildings would be approximately 100,000 square feet, adding a total of 1,600 offices and 1,500 parking spaces, according to the report. The cost of the expansion was not disclosed.

If approved by the City Council, construction on the expansion could begin this spring, according to the report.
