NeHC’s survey found that 96 percent of health IT stakeholders strongly agree that engaging patients in their care is “critical to transformation.” In addition, 86 percent thought patient engagement was “very” important to their organization — the highest ranking available.

The most common ways healthcare organizations plan to ramp up their consumer eHealth engagement efforts are networking with colleagues, following NeHC’s patient engagement framework, working more with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT and gaining support from vendors.
