The new feature, called CVS Pay, seeks to offer a streamlined, convenient experience for customers of the Woonsocket, R.I.-based company. Users add their payment card information into the CVS Pharmacy app. When users manage prescriptions on the app and receive notification the prescription is ready, the app produces a barcode. Store associates will scan the barcode, ring up purchases and the customer selects which payment method stored in the app to use.
Customers can also link their ExtraCare card, CVS’ customer loyalty program, with the CVS Pay app.
“We’ve been excited by the level of customer adoption of [our] digital solutions, and we will continue our quick pace of innovation and deployment to make our customers’ healthcare experience even easier,” Brian Tilzer, senior vice president and chief digital officer of CVS Health, said in a statement.
CVS Pay is being introduced first in select markets, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The company plans for a nationwide launch later this year.
