Colorado governor rolls out statewide health IT roadmap with 16 strategic goals

The Colorado Office of Lieutenant Governor Donna Lynne approved a statewide health IT roadmap Nov. 8.

The roadmap, developed by the Colorado Office of eHealth Innovation with input from 1,000-plus community stakeholders, comprises 16 initiatives to lay the groundwork to build the state's health IT infrastructure.

Initiatives outlined in the roadmap include supporting statewide care coordination; integrating behavioral, physical and claims data; and promoting cybersecurity best practices to protect health information.

"Colorado's goal is to become the healthiest state in the nation, and we are leading the way toward expanded access to care, improved outcomes, lower costs and healthier communities," Ms. Lynne said. "I'm confident this roadmap gives us the direction to build upon Colorado's long and successful history in HIT, and sets the stage for achieving a brighter future."
