CMS Pays $738M in EHR Incentive Program Payments in February

CMS has released data from February 2012 on participation and payment totals for eligible hospitals, eligible professionals and critical access hospitals under the Medicare and Medicaid electronic health record incentive programs.

The program-to-date totals include:

•    Over 211,500 EPs, eligible hospitals and CAHs have registered for the incentive programs since January 2011;
•    Over 62,000 EPs, eligible hospitals and CAHs have received payments for participating in the incentive programs, totaling $3.8 billion.

Totals for the month of February alone include:

•    Over 20,000 EPs, eligible hospitals and CAHs registered;
•    Over $738 million was paid in incentive payments.
