CIO George Hickman: Lifetime service to IT

In 2007, George Hickman, executive vice president and CIO of Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center, received the John E. Gall, Jr. CIO of the Year Award from CHIME/HIMSS, an honor recognizing individuals’ lifetime achievements in the healthcare IT industry.

Mr. Hickman began his health IT career as a project engineer and associate director of management and information services at St. Mary’s Health System in Knoxville, Tenn. He also served as CIO of Alleghany General Hospital in Pittsburgh and West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown. He joined Albany Medical Center in 2003.

Additionally, Mr. Hickman was a senior manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers and a partner with Ernst & Young.

Adding to his lifetime achievement accolades, Mr. Hickman is a life member and past chair of HIMSS and a life member and past chair of CHIME.
