Cerner SVP on IT support: We've 'flipped the model upside-down'

Staff -

Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner is leveraging its IT expertise to help its existing clients, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

In 2009, the vendor revealed its IT service, CernerWorks, which provides assistance to hospitals and health systems that need support for their Cerner EHR. CernerWorks also recertifies employees so they can provide in-house support.

"These go-live events have to happen flawlessly so we retain continuity of care and safety," said Farrell Sanders, Cerner's senior vice president of consulting and application services, according to the report. "We stay engaged as long as necessary."

Cerner sees this on-site service as instrumental in building long-lasting relationships with its clients.

"Some of our largest clients have decided to turn in the keys to us," said Kent Scheuler, a senior vice president at Cerner, according to the report. "We've kind of flipped the model upside-down."
