Cerner has $1.2B economic impact on Kansas City, executives say

Cerner projects significant growth for its company, as executives outlined hiring plans and financial projections in a shareholder meeting on Friday, according to The Kansas City Star.

Executives at the meeting said Cerner has an economic impact of $1.2 billion in Kansas City area. Cerner is headquartered in Kansas City, Mo.

Cerner currently employs approximately 11,500 in Kansas City, but expects to employ closer to 25,000 in the city after completing construction of its new campus, expected to be finished by the end of the year.

Additionally, Zane Burke, Cerner president, said the company added 236 hospital clients last year and achieved a record high number of bookings. "We brought in more new clients to Cerner than any time in our corporate history," Mr. Burke said, according to the report.
