Cerner, GE Healthcare recognized by Computerworld for data analytics projects

Staff -

Computerworld has recognized 20 organizations for success in using data analytics to achieve project gains, and Cerner and GE Healthcare both made the list.

The 2016 Data+ Editor's Choice Awards honor organizations from a number of industries who have successfully used data analytics to achieve their objectives.

The magazine highlighted Cerner's Enterprise Data Hub, which is hosted on Cloudera's big data platform. It aggregates and analyzes healthcare data to inform predictive analytics. The hub, for example, enables data scientists to better understand patients and conditions. Cerner's St. John Sepsis Agent, for example, uses an algorithm to determine the probability a patient will develop sepsis.

GE Healthcare was recognized for migrating from its old clearinghouse (a now retired Oracle product) to a new one (Talend ESB) without disrupting business flow. The migration was completed without any disruptions, and the company even grew transaction volume.
