Cerner, American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination award nursing assistant scholarship

Cerner, in collaboration with the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination, awarded the 2017 Cerner Nursing Assistant of the Year Scholarship to Amber Jasper, of Garden Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Ms. Jasper will receive $3,000 through the scholarship program.

Diona Kern, director of human resources and payroll at Garden Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, nominated Ms. Jasper. She was one of 50 nursing assistants who were nominated.

The American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination convened an expert panel that reviewed the nominations and selected the winner. This is the scholarship program's ninth year.

"Our goal at Cerner is to empower nursing assistants and help maximize their skill set and capabilities with health information technology. Nursing assistants are critical to the quality of care that facilities can provide," said Eva Karp, senior vice president and chief clinical officer at Cerner.
