Carequality has published its Carequality Interoperability Framework, a comprehensive platform comprised of legal terms, policy requirements, technical specifications and governance processes.

The Interoperability Framework is available for information exchange networks, vendors, payers and more.

The initial rollout of the Interoperability Framework is led by 13 organizations including:

•    athenahealth
•    Coordinated Care Oklahoma
•    eClinicalWorks
•    Epic
•    Greenway
•    HIETexas
•    Intermountain Healthcare
•    Kaiser Permanente
•    Kansas Health Information Network
•    Netsmart
•    NextGen
•    Surescripts
•    Utah Health Information Network

"This is an important year for Carequality. We are pleased by the level of industry support for a network-of-networks. We have hundreds of hospitals and thousands of clinics ready to be Carequality-connected to accelerate interoperability between vendors and provider groups regardless of platform," said Rob Klootwyk, steering committee member and technical services engineer at Epic.

Carequality is an initiative of the Sequoia Project, a non-profit focused on the implementation of an interoperable, nationwide health information exchange.
