California universities set out on blockchain initiatives

Three California universities have partnered with MouseBelt's blockchain accelerator to research blockchain developments, according to CoinDesk.

UC Davis, UC Los Angeles and UC Santa Barbara will offer undergraduate to doctorate level students participate in the blockchain programs. Through the partnership, MouseBelt will fund research across the three campuses for blockchain project development.

Specifically, MouseBelt has allocated $500,000 in funding for up to five blockchain projects. Additionally, the blockchain-focused company is donating to the universities' engineering departments.

MouseBelt said the blockchain projects are designed to fill the knowledge gap in the university level setting, as most do not offer blockchain courses.
