California Launches Nation's Largest Telehealth Network to Better Connect Healthcare Providers

Staff -
The California Telehealth Network, the nation's largest network for telehealth, has been launched in Sacramento, Calif., according to a CTN news release.

CTN will allow patients in rural and underserved areas of California to receive the specialty care they need by using its network to connect them to providers in other areas. More than 800 California healthcare facilities will now be connected to a statewide and nationwide broadband network of healthcare and emergency services.

The $30 million project is funded by $22.1 million from the Federal Communications Commission, with $3.6 million in matching funds from California Emerging Technology Fund and other public and private entities. United States Chief Technology Officer and Assistant to President Barack Obama Aneesh Chopra, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and the California Telehealth Network Board of Directors and partners will be present for the launch.
