Boston Children's Hospital announces details of upcoming innovation summit

Staff -

Boston Children's Hospital has announced its 2015 Global Pediatric Innovation Summit + Awards will be held in November and will feature two opportunities for pediatric healthcare innovators to advance their research, ideas, innovations and solutions.

The first opportunity is Boston Children's second annual Innovation Tank, which will take place Nov. 9. Presented by Philips Healthcare, the competition will feature a panel of business-savvy venture capitalists, industry leaders and clinicians and researchers that will consider pitches from innovators seeking investment for their pediatric care-improving business or product solution. The panel will "invest" $30,000 in sponsored funds to their chosen innovators. The panel members will also provide valuable insights on accelerating innovations and bringing them to market.

The second opportunity is Ignite Talks, a competition that will be held on Nov. 10. As part of this competition, presenters will have five minutes and 20 slides to pitch an innovation focused on advancing pediatric healthcare to a live audience. Audience members will vote on a winner through a mobile app.

The winner of the Ignite Talks competition will receive an Apple Watch, a trophy and sponsored travel to Boston to participate in an hour-long one-on-one mentoring session with an influential venture capitalist.

Boston Children's will accept applications for both the Innovation Tank and Ignite Talks until Sept. 30. To learn more, click here.
