Recipients will use the grants to implement web-based services, smart phones and behavioral health electronic applications to improve communication between patients with mental and substance abuse disorders and healthcare providers, especially those in remote or underserved areas.
The grantees may receive up to $280,000 annually for three years depending on their progress in achieving the program’s goals and the availability of funds. The grant program is part of SAMHSA’s Strategic Initiative on Health Information Technology.
