Becker's announces 2015 CIO Leadership Award winners

Becker's Healthcare is pleased to announce the winners of our 2015 CIO Leadership Awards.

This year's awards recognize IT leaders who remain vigilant in their mission to improve and advance healthcare through information technology and leadership.

Edward Marx. The Advisory Board Company Consultant Leading Epic Implementation at NYC Health + Hospitals (formerly New York City Health and Hospitals Corp.). Prior to his current role with the Advisory Board Company, Mr. Marx served as senior vice president and CIO of Arlington-based Texas Health Resources. In 2013, Mr. Marx received the John E .Gall Jr. CIO of the Year Award from CHIME and HIMSS. He also is a published author: His first book Extraordinary Tales From a Rather Ordinary Guy is a collection of stories from Mr. Marx's life and outlines rules he lives by every day. He is currently working on another book called Voices of Innovation, a project done in conjunction with HIMSS which is due out next October.

Pravene A. Nath, MD. CIO of Stanford (Calif.) Health Care. Dr. Pravene A. Nath is the Chief Information Officer of Stanford Health Care, leading technology strategy and operations for the $3B health system. Under Dr. Nath’s leadership, Stanford Health Care has transformed the delivery models for technology implementation and support, developed innovative new digital health care offerings and received several honors, including US News & World Report’s Most Connected Hospitals, Hospital & Health Network’s Most Wired, HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 EMR Adoption and the Leapfrog Top Hospital award. He previously held the role of Chief Medical Information Officer at Stanford Health Care and at NYU Langone Medical Center, and he has practiced emergency medicine as a member of the teaching faculty at Stanford as well as at NYU and Bellevue Hospitals in New York City, where he completed his residency training. Dr. Nath received his B.S.E. in biomedical engineering from Duke University and his M.D. and M.S.E. in biomedical engineering from The University of Michigan.

Daniel Barchi. CIO of Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health System. As CIO of Yale New Haven Health System and Yale School of Medicine, Mr. Barchi oversees the information technology for a $4 billion system comprised of 2,130 beds, more than 6,300 physicians, a 60-member multispecialty physician foundation and more than 20,000 employees. Prior to coming to Yale, Mr. Barchi was senior vice president and CIO of Roanoke, Va.-based Carilion Health System.
