Athenahealth sells for $5.7B; Allscripts rebrands payer, life sciences business & more — 8 health IT key notes

Here are eight recent news updates on major health IT and technology companies:

1. Allscripts rebranded its payer and life sciences division under the name "Veradigm."

2. Allscripts ranked as the top integrated EHR, practice management and revenue cycle management platform for health systems and integrated delivery networks in a Black Book Market Research survey.

3. Amazon's cloud computing arm, Amazon Web Services, added three machine learning tools to its set of "HIPAA-eligible" services.

4. Private equity firm Veritas Capital and Evergreen Coast Capital, an affiliate of hedge fund Elliott Management, agreed to buy athenahealth for an estimated $5.7 billion in cash.
