AT&T to be connectivity backbone for wearable health tech company Biotricity

Staff -

Through a new partnership, AT&T will expand its network connectivity and telecommunications services to include wearable medical devices.

AT&T has launched a pilot version of a solution that will be expanded later this year to connect Internet of Things-enabled medical devices developed by Biotricity. Through what Biotricity calls its "bioflux solution," it anticipates manufacturing devices capable of consistently transmitting information to move care from the hospital to the home.

"By wirelessly enabling their devices, Biotricity will help enable caregivers and healthcare institutions to use their patients' data in near real-time to make informed and timely decisions," Steve Berger, with at AT&T IoT Solutions, said in a statement.

AT&T and Biotricity also anticipate IoT-enabled medical devices will play a major role in preventive care, critical care response and home care, among other forms of future care delivery.
