Apple Q4 revenue up 12% from last year: 5 things to know

Apple released its fourth quarter earnings results Nov. 2.

Here are five things to know about the company's performance.

1. The company posted $52.58 billion in revenue for the fourth quarter, up 12.23 percent from $46.85 billion during the same period one year prior.

2. The plurality of Apple's revenue in the fourth quarter — $23.01 billion, or 44.93 percent of total revenue — is from product sales in the Americas.

3. The product that comprised the majority of Apple's revenue in the fourth quarter (54.87 percent) was the iPhone, which comprised $28.85 in revenue.

4. Apple's services revenue — in contrast to revenue from its products like the iPhone, iPad and Mac — hit an all-time quarterly high at $3.23 billion, up 36.29 percent from $2.37 billion during the same period last year.

5. Apple officials project the company's revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2018 will be in the range of $84 billion and $87 billion.
