Apple pushed its return-to-office deadline back by at least a month, with employees returning in October at the earliest, people familiar with the matter told The Mercury News.
In June, the tech giant told its employees they would need to be in the office at least three days a week starting in early September. When announcing this, CEO Tim Cook cited the widespread availability of vaccines and the decreasing number of COVID-19 cases.
His announcement prompted more than 1,700 employees to sign a letter asking company executives to exercise more flexibility in Apple's remote work policy, according to The Verge.
Apple's policy was amended in response to the rising number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across the country. The company will give employees at least a month’s notice before requiring them to return to the office, anonymous sources told The Mercury News.
