Apple adds voice technology to new AirPods: 4 notes

Jackie Drees -

Apple released the second generation of AirPods, with features including use of the tech giant's voice-powered virtual assistant, Siri.

Four notes:

1. Designed with an H1 chip specifically made for headphones, the new AirPods allow users to access Siri to perform tasks like adjusting headphone volume and making a cellphone call.

2. The new AirPods are also compatible with Apple's new wireless charging case, which can hold additional charges for more than 24 hours of listening time.

3. AirPods' pricing starts at $159, and the device is available to order online now or purchased in store next week.

4. In December 2018, Apple was awarded a patent that designs an interchangeable AirPods design with built-in biometric sensors, which could potentially be used to perform health tracking functions like heart rate monitoring.
