An Amazon warehouse in New York City closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19, according to Bloomberg.
The employee worked at an Amazon delivery station in Queens, which the company temporarily closed. Employees at the center were sent home with full pay and the facility will be sanitized.
This news comes amid Amazon's hiring surge to meet the needs of customers, many of which are working from home due to self-quarantine. Amazon aims to bring aboard 100,000 employees to meet demand.
Previous COVID-19 cases have been reported at the company's European depots, even as the company has committed resources to protective measures for cleaning facilities and maintaining social distancing during deliveries.
