AMA, HIMSS nonprofit updates mobile health guidelines

Xcertia, a collaborative nonprofit specializing in promoting the quality of mobile health apps, released updates to its mHealth guidelines Feb. 13.

The nonprofit was founded by the American Medical Association, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, the American Heart Association and DHX Group in 2016 with the goal of developing guidelines that help mHealth developers increase the safety and effectiveness of mobile health apps.

Xcertia's mHealth guidelines cover the following areas: operability, privacy, security, content and usability.

Xcertia will accept feedback on the updated guidelines through May 15.
