Accenture wins new $563M contract for HealthCare.gov

Staff -

For the next five years, Accenture will continue its work on the federal online insurance exchange, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

In January, CMS selected Accenture to oversee maintenance of HealthCare.gov. Accenture replaced the original contractor, CGI Federal, after the glitch-ridden launch of the federal exchange.

Under Accenture's new $563 million contract, the company will provide ongoing maintenance, software development and technology support for HealthCare.gov.

Since January, Accenture has simplified the processes for payers to update health plans on the site and helped CMS expand a project offering a marketplace for small businesses and states that moved to the federal marketplace, according to the report.

"Our work in all of these areas will continue under the new contract, as we continuously enhance the capability supporting citizens, issuers and CMS — focused on simplifying and streamlining the customer experience," said Matt Tait, senior managing director of Accenture, in the WSJ report.
