Ability Network reveals new FHIR-based API for early adopters

Kelly Gooch -

Health IT company Ability Network has launched an early adopter program for its new Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources-based application programming interface.

FHIR is interoperable with different data formats and features an application programming interface for exchanging health records, according to a news release.

Ability Network said this program offers its partners one interface that connects them to the Ability Network platform, "while minimizing the amount of time and resources needed to learn and manage the complexities of each underlying technology." The application programming interface technology is designed to support high- volume, high-availability applications, and at the same time enable partner-specific data transformation required for plug-in, legacy applications, the release states.

Through the program, Ability Network said its partners will be able to conduct member searches, coverage determination, claim submissions, acknowledgment and remittance download with Ability Network's national payer network using traditional electronic data interchange as well as FHIR-based formats.
