84% of consumers agree technology can empower people to solve healthcare challenges

Lenovo is among the technology companies that is venturing into healthcare with its virtual reality devices. To determine if technology is having a positive affect on consumers, Lenovo conducted a survey to discover new insights into the social challenges and benefits of intelligent technology and smart devices.

The company surveyed more than 15,000 people from the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, China, India, Japan, U.K., Germany, France and Italy.

Here are five results:

1. Majority of respondents (84 percent) reported that they believe technology can empower people, communities and society to help address and solve global problems, including those within the healthcare industry.

2. Forty-seven percent indicated that technology will be "critical" to transforming healthcare in the future.

3. Around a quarter of people agreed technology companies have a responsibility to help address and solve major challenges within healthcare and other industries.

4. A little more than two-thirds of respondents reported that technology and smart devices are currently positively impacting their ability to live healthier lifestyles.

5. Half of the people said they think technology has had a positive impact on society by improving aspects of the healthcare landscape.
