53% of Healthcare IT Executives Cite Physician Adoption as the Greatest Challenge

Fifty-three percent of healthcare IT executives consider physician adoption to be the greatest challenge in meeting stage 1 of meaningful use, and 48 percent believe that password management issues are slowing physician adoption of electronic medical records, according to an Imprivata 2011 Health IT Survey.

Other key findings from the survey include the following:

•    75 percent of survey respondents claim meaningful use as their top budget priority for 2011 IT investments.
•    87 percent of respondents said time to access an EMR impacts physician satisfaction.
•    73 percent said that time to access an EMR also impacts overall patient care.
•    More than half of respondents are aware that at least 26 percent of their physicians are accessing EMRs remotely.
•    The majority of respondents said they (65 percent) currently deploy personal devices for physicians or have plans to deploy before the end of 2012.
