4 key statistics on remote patient monitoring growth

Nearly 5 million patients were remotely monitored across the globe in 2015, a 51 percent increase from the previous year. That number is expected to continue its upward trajectory, according to a report from Berg Insight.

Here are three more key statistics on the global remote patient monitoring market.

1. Berg Insight estimates the number of remotely monitored patients will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 48.9 percent through 2020, reaching an estimated 36.1 million patients.

2. Cellular connectivity is growing in popularity as the means for connectivity. The report suggests cellular connectivity will account for 19.2 million connections in 2020.

3. Additionally, the number of patient-owned devices for remote monitoring is projected to reach 15.2 million patients in 2020.
