IDC Insights launched a new guidance taxonomy to analyze digital transformation across industries.
IDC Digital Transformation Taxonomy, also called DX Taxonomy, considers 14 industries, including government, healthcare, insurance and life sciences.
Here are three insights about worldwide digital transformation across all of these industries.
1. Today, the economic value of digital transformation is about $20 trillion, representing more than 20 percent of global gross domestic product.
2. The majority of companies (67 percent) are in early stages of digital transformation.
3. In total, less than 5 percent of companies have undergone full digital transformation.
"The full disruptive impact of DX has not yet been realized but is well on its way and is going to fundamentally change business markets and how companies attract, delight and retain customers," according to IDC Insights.
