13 most interesting health IT partnerships this week

Hospitals and health systems teamed up with health IT companies, startups and telehealth organizations this week to develop new initiatives, technologies and innovative projects.

Here are 13 of the most interesting health IT partnerships, collaborations and acquisitions reported by Becker's Hospital Review this week.

1. Allscripts entered into a definitive agreement to acquire San Francisco-based EHR provider Practice Fusion for $100 million in cash.

2. American Well entered into a partnership with Netsmart, a health IT vendor focused on behavioral health, social services and post-acute markets. 

3. The U.S. Department of Defense awarded former McKesson Technologies, now Change Healthcare, a $400 million contract to supply and maintain the agency's digital imaging network

4. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Temple (Texas) recently rolled out THA Smart Ribbon, a product developed by the Texas Hospital Association, the association announced Jan. 10. 

5. Renown Institute for Health Innovation, a Nevada-based nonprofit that launched the Healthy Nevada Project, is planning to expand the project by collaborating with Helix, a personal genomics company.

6. Meditech entered into an agreement with Arcadia Healthcare Solutions to integrate information from various data sources into its EHR and analytics solutions.

7. Milwaukee-based Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin will deploy predictive analytics solutions from PeraHealth across its network in early 2018. 

8. Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic entered into an agreement with DNA sequencing company Veritas Genetics to integrate whole-genome sequencing into clinical care.

9. Syapse, an oncology-focused precision medicine company, entered into a multiyear strategic collaboration with Roche.

10. Aurora, Mo.-based Mercy tapped GoHealth Urgent Care, an urgent care provider, for a new partnership that seeks to create a network of urgent care centers across the Midwest.

11. GE Healthcare and Roche partnered to develop a digital clinical decision support solution, focusing on products that accelerate and improve personalized cancer and critical care treatments.

12. U.S.-based telehealth provider American Well and Amsterdam-based Philips, a health IT company, joined forces to embed American Well's mobile telehealth services into an array of Philips solutions.

13. Allianz X, the digital investment unit of insurer and asset manager Allianz, invested $59.2 million in a strategic partnership with American Well. The partnership is focused on the development of digital solutions to increase access to healthcare and control costs.
