After four years, 100 percent of Colorado health safety net providers who received grants from the Colorado Health Foundation had implemented an electronic health record system or planned to do so in the next 18 months, according to a foundation news release.
The foundation issued a report, "Healthy Connections in Colorado: A Primer for HIT Success," that describes the impact of its Healthy Connections initiative on healthcare safety net organizations. Under the initiative, Colorado Health Foundation gave 43 organizations 75 grants totaling $9.4 million. From 2007-2011, the organizations' development of health IT allowed 460,000 Coloradans to benefit from EHRs, according to the report.
