10 most interesting health IT partnerships this week

Federal agencies, hospitals and health systems teamed up with health IT companies this week to develop new initiatives, technologies and innovative projects.

Here are 10 of the most interesting health IT partnerships that were announced this week, as reported by Becker's Hospital Review.

1. The Department of Defense is in discussion with leaders of the commercial IT sector on how to update regulations governing cloud computing security demands for the private sector.

2. Partners Connected Health, an IT-focused team at Boston-based Partners HealthCare, unveiled a digital health collaboration with Brussels, Belgium-based global biopharmaceutical company UCB Oct. 11.

3. The Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement and the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative entered into a partnership to expand the reach of both organizations.

4. CMS awarded CNSI, a health IT solutions provider, 4.5 year, $35 million contract to develop and maintain CMS' next-generation Encounter Data Processing System for Medicare Part C claims.

5. Zocdoc, an online scheduling service for healthcare organizations, integrated its platform with the Allscripts EHR, the company announced Oct. 17. 

6. Salt Lake City based Intermountain Healthcare's precision medicine initiative, Intermountain Precision Genomics, is teaming up with Pleasanton, Calif.-based 10x Genomics to expand research efforts. 

7. Great Lakes Health Connect, Michigan's health information exchange, joined forces with health IT firm Holon Solutions to enable improved management of the state's Medicaid population. 

8. Shenzhen, China-based Huawei and Amsterdam, Netherlands-based Philips have developed a cloud solution for healthcare in China that the companies believe will shape a new future for digital healthcare. 

9. Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS Health will integrate with Verona, Wis.-based Epic's Healthy Planet population health and analytics platform to help prescribers access better data on prescription drugs.

10. The American Medical Association founded a collaborative effort between the healthcare and technology sectors to develop a common data model, the group announced Oct. 16.
