10 blockchain deals, releases to know

More companies continue to invest their dollars in blockchain initiatives. Below is a list of companies who have penned blockchain-focused deals or launched new blockchain systems. 

1. Ernst & Young has launched a new blockchain platform, known as the EY OpsChain Public Finance Manager, to help governments improve financial management. 

2. IBM was selected by smart contract provider Proof of Trust to build a multiplatform blockchain application for disputed resolution and smart contract validation. 

3. Brighton, Mass.-based SimplyVital Health has earned a $225,000 grant from the National Science Foundation's Small Business Technology Transfer to research blockchain protocols.

4. IBM has launched a new supply chain suite that uses Watson Artificial Intelligence and blockchain to help companies make their supply chains smarter and more efficient. 

5. San Francisco-based technology developer Chronicled has added healthcare consulting company Cumberland to its blockchain-powered network to support supply chain management. 

6. OmiseGo, a finance-focused blockchain company, is the latest organization to join the Universal Protocol Alliance, a coalition of blockchain and cryptocurrency companies.

7. Denver-based BurstIQ closed a $5.5 million Series A funding round, which will be used to expand its blockchain technology. 

8. IBM is collaborating with Facebook on digital currency efforts, an executive with the technology giant confirmed to CNBC. 

9. Precision medicine and biotechnology company Macrogen was granted a patent Sept. 17 for blockchain-based data-sharing technology.

10. Information technology solution developer Samsung SDS plans to roll out a blockchain-based medical claims processing system later this month.
