$1.8B invested: Top 10 digital health markets in Q1

The first quarter of 2016 saw a record $1.8 billion investment in digital health, according to the "Digital Health Funding Rankings" from StartUp Health Insights.

In 2015, there were a total of seven deals worth more than $100 million. Already in the first quarter of this year there have been four $100 million-plus deals. Here are the top 10 most active digital health markets for the quarter.

1. Big data and analytics.

•    Deal count: 8
•    Average deal size: $35.7 million  

2. Medical device.

•    Total raised year-to-date: $198 million
•    Deal count: 11
•    Average deal size: $17.9 million  

3. Consumer experience.

•    Total raised year-to-date: $195 million
•    Deal count: 20
•    Average deal size: $9.8 million  

4. Personalized health.

•    Total raised year-to-date: $162 million
•    Deal count: 11
•    Average deal size: $14.7 million  

5. Wellness.

•    Total raised year-to-date: $141 million
•    Deal count: 8
•    Average deal size: $17.7 million  

6. Workflow.

•    Total raised year-to-date: $132 million
•    Deal count: 17
•    Average deal size: $7.8 million  

7. Clinical decision support.

•    Total raised year-to-date: $109 million
•    Deal count: 8
•    Average deal size: $13.6 million  

8. E-commerce.

•    Total raised year-to-date: $102 million
•    Deal count: 5
•    Average deal size: $16.9 million

9. Population health.

•    Total raised year-to-date: $26 million
