Northwestern Medicine awards $16.3M to 300+ Illinois agencies

Northwestern Medicine has distributed $16.3 million in grants to more than 300 local agencies in Illinois this year to address healthcare disparities identified in community health needs assessments.

The grants support services such as housing, nutrition, transportation, childcare, and access to mental health and primary care.

"We sought out organizations who are truly making a difference by removing barriers to better health," Posh Charles, senior vice president of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, said in an Aug. 1 news release.

At a July 31 event, Northwestern Medicine honored the grant recipients, including The Grace Network, which will expand its hygiene support services for students, and DuPage Pads, which launched Illinois' first hotel-to-interim housing conversion initiative.
