The 150-bed psychiatric hospital received a termination letter from CMS stating it was not in compliance with Medicare requirements on Sept. 13. The letter did not specify which requirements Sharpe Hospital did not meet.

If the contract is terminated, CMS will not pay for beneficiaries who are admitted to the psychiatric hospital on or after Sept.28. It will continue to make payments for up to 30 days for patients admitted prior to that date.

William R Sharpe Jr. Hospital did not respond to Becker’s Hospital Review’s request for comment.
