Weill Cornell Medicine launches $1.5B fundraising campaign

Alia Paavola -

Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City launched a $1.5 billion fundraising campaign that will support its three core missions: to care, discover and teach.

The new campaign, called "We're Changing Medicine," will support construction of capital projects, bring new technology to the system and advance research.

The campaign already raised more than $750 million during its quiet, non-public phase, including a recent $55 million gift from real estate developer Jeffrey Feil and the Feil family to build a new residence hall on the medical school campus.

The fundraising campaign is the largest in Weill Cornell Medicine's history, according to a news release.

"Throughout its illustrious history, Cornell has championed radical ideas and pioneering approaches that can make the biggest impact for the largest number of people," Martha Pollack, president of Cornell University, said in a news release."Weill Cornell Medicine exemplifies our mission to develop solutions that meet tomorrow's most pressing challenges, and the We're Changing Medicine campaign will ensure long-lasting advances in science and medicine."
