Kirkland, Wash.-based EvergreenHealth says a systemwide glitch significantly delayed bills from EvergreenHealth Medical Center, according to TV station KING5.

The health system sent letters to 1,100 patients who received care between 2015 and 2019, notifying them of the glitch. The internal error caused patients to receive hospital bills months or years after receiving treatment, according to the report.

The health system apologized for the error and is working with patients affected by the glitch.

"It shouldn't have happened and for that, we are deeply sorry," an EvergreenHealth spokesperson told KING5.

The health system is working with its billing vendor to avoid any similar errors in the future, according to the report.
