New York-based University at Buffalo's medical school won a $2.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to train researchers on biomedical informatics, according to Buffalo News.

The five-year grant will fund training for 15 doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in biomedical informatics at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The grant comes as demand increases for researchers with a background in healthcare clinical informatics.

"[The grant] puts the department at the forefront of this rapidly changing field," Peter Elkin, MD, professor and chairman of the biomedical informatics department, told Buffalo News.
