Trinity Health gets $417.9M revenue boost from acquisitions in first half of FY 2017

Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health received a substantial revenue boost from acquisitions in the first half of fiscal year 2017. 

Trinity Health reported revenue of $8.7 billion in the first six months of FY 2017, a 9.9 percent increase from revenue of $7.9 billion in the same period of the year prior, according to recently released bondholder documents.

The financial boost was largely attributable to an increase in patient volume from Trinity Health's Connecticut acquisitions, which accounted for $417.9 million of the system's increase in revenue in the first half of FY 2017.

Trinity saw expenses increase 9.1 percent year over year to $8.6 billion in the first six months of FY 2017. Expenses from the Connecticut acquisitions accounted for $407.4 million of the increase in expenses.  

Trinity ended the first half of FY 2017 with operating income of $109.9 million, compared to an operating loss of $27.2 million in the same period of the year prior.
